STUDENT COMPUTER PROGRAMMING SPECIALIST

Assists faculty and staff with computer-related duties. May be required to:

  • Design, write, test and/or implement program modules to extract data and solve problems
  • Develop computer graphics
  • Install, test, and maintain hardware and software
  • Program and run statistical analyses of data sets
  • Develop training and documentation to assist staff and faculty in technology use
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware and software problems within department guidelines
  • Record, track, and report computer problems
  • Secure work environment, systems, and equipment
  • Distribute reports and other output to various areas
  • Perform data entry, record keeping and other administrative tasks
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Assist in training of other student employees
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in information technology
  • Knowledge of program languages (e.g., SQL, shell scripting) and their application
  • Skill in working within mainframe, Web, and Windows environments
  • Macintosh and Unix/Linux systems knowledge a plus
  • Ability to operate a computer and advanced computer literacy
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in project-driven, team environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • May need to lift approximately 25 lbs.
