STUDENT COMPUTER LAB ASSISTANT

Provides assistance in an academic environment with computer-related duties. May be required to:

  • Monitor computer-based training sessions, user behavior and use of equipment, including any time limits
  • Perform lab start-up and shut-down procedures
  • Sign users in and out of computer applications
  • Secure systems, facility, and equipment
  • Assist students and faculty in technology use
  • Collect student questions and report to faculty or staff
  • Install and maintain hardware and software
  • Record and report hardware/software problems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware and software problems within department guidelines
  • Assist in data collection and basic statistical analysis
  • Perform data entry, record keeping and other administrative tasks
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as directed by staff or faculty

Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a computer and work responsibly in lab environment
  • Basic knowledge of mainframe, Web, and Windows environments
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • May need to lift approximately 25 lbs.
