Assists faculty in teaching efforts. May be required to:

  • Assist in the preparation of materials for labs and lectures
  • Perform research in preparation for lectures
  • Maintain class roll and other data
  • Clarify basic course requirements for students
  • Conduct small group activities and discussion sessions
  • Lecture and/or demonstrate on occasion under guidance and direct supervision of instructor
  • Assist instructor and students during consultation hours
  • Distribute, proctor, and collect exams
  • Grade exams and assignments per instructor’s guidelines and supervision
  • Record grades; tabulate and prepare exam data for analysis
  • Perform administrative duties such as photocopying materials for class
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Assist in the training of other student workers
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required


  • Prior experience in a similar position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated knowledge of course material
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
