STUDENT EQUIPMENT DESIGN & TESTING SPECIALIST

Assists faculty in research efforts related to technology/equipment design and function. Student may be required to:

  • Assemble equipment and/or utilize related technology
  • Work with blueprints/schematics
  • Test equipment and resolve basic problems within guidelines
  • Test and/or implement computer program modules
  • Take measurements
  • Code/plot and analyze data
  • Use data to improve equipment design
  • Design and draft equipment
  • Interpret statistical output
  • Prepare reports on experimental procedures and findings
  • Assist in the preparation of copy for publication
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Assist in the training of other student employees
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate a computer and laboratory equipment
  • May require knowledge of specific applications related to data acquisition and statistical analysis
  • May require computer programming ability
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
