STUDENT DISPATCH ASSISTANT
Assists public safety and/or maintenance personnel. May be required to:
- Answer emergency phone calls for fire, police, ambulance, or maintenance departments per established procedures
- Answer routine business phone calls
- Communicate via radio with fire apparatus, ambulances, police, regional fire communication centers, and emergency maintenance personnel
- Communicate patient medical information to hospital emergency rooms
- Keep log of incidents
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings
- Perform miscellaneous duties as directed
Requirements:
- Ability to make decisions under stress with a minimum of supervision
- Customer service and communication skills (verbal and written) including the ability to speak clearly and concisely on the phone
- Ability to keep information confidential
- Ability to operate a computer and phone
- Basic computer literacy
- Availability work which may include day, evening, night, or vacation shifts
