STUDENT PHYSICAL THERAPY SPECIALIST

Assists physical therapist in rehabilitation of injured patients. May be required to:

• Assist physical therapist in the evaluation of injured patients
• Assist physical therapist with ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage, joint mobilization, cervical/ lumbar traction, and other treatments as directed
• Administer ice packs and ice massages and apply ice bandages to patients as directed by the physical therapist
• Monitor patients' completion of therapeutic exercises as directed by physical therapist
• Clean treatment area, equipment and whirlpools
• Change linen on treatment tables
• Issue crutches or canes to patients with lower extremity injuries
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
• Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

• Prior work experience in a physical therapy setting
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Patient service and communication skills (verbal and written)
• May be required to perform physical duties such as lifting
• Physical Therapy or Sports Medicine majors preferred
