STUDENT HEALTH LABORATORY SPECIALIST

Assists professional health care staff. May be required to:

• Perform complex level tests under the supervision of a senior staff member
• Perform moderately-complex level tests and review results with a senior staff member
• Independently perform simple laboratory tests (i.e., dipstick urine, occult blood, rapid strep screen) per established procedures
• Collect lab specimens
• Adhere to Infection Control Guidelines
• Complete paperwork, filing, data entry and other clerical duties
• Prepare specimens for dispatch
• Stock laboratory supplies
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
• Assist in the training of other student workers
• Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

• Previous health laboratory work experience
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Attention to detail
• Allied Health majors preferred
