STUDENT CATERING ASSISTANT

Assists catering staff in various on-campus locations. May be required to:

• Set up and clear tables for formal dining functions
• Prepare and serve hors d’oeuvres, meals, beverages
• Set up and clean up service stations
• Clean banquet facility and/or kitchen (e.g., mopping floors)
• Wash dishes, pots, and pans by hand or with dishwashing equipment
• Respond appropriately to customer questions and concerns
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed

Requirements:

• Knowledge of service etiquette, layout for formal place settings, wine service, and safe food handling procedures
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment
• Ability to work in fast-paced team environment
• Adherence to uniform or dress code
• If serving alcoholic beverages: T.I.P.P.S. certification
• Customer service and communication skills
• Ability to perform physical duties such as heavy lifting (carrying service trays with 8-10 dinners per tray) or standing for long periods of time
