STUDENT WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
Provides assistance to staff and faculty in the preparation of informational or promotional print media and/or public relations. May be required to:
- Write articles, press releases, newsletters, media guides, programs, and other informational or promotional materials for both hardcopy print and web-based formats (may specialize in a particular content area)
- Conduct interviews by phone or in person
- Conduct research utilizing databases, archives, internet, and other information sources
- Attend and cover University events
- Assist in training of other student employees
- Perform basic administrative duties such as filing, data entry, word processing, etc.
- Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
- Perform miscellaneous duties as required
Requirements:
- Previous writing or public relations work experience in a similar position
- Advanced writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet stringent deadlines in project-driven environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- May need to work some evenings and weekends
- Good working knowledge of related software applications (e.g., Word, Publisher)
