STUDENT GRAPHICS/ILLUSTRATION SPECIALIST

Assists faculty and staff with graphics and illustration projects. May be required to:

  • Assist in the creation and design of materials for use in journals, newsletters, brochures, leaflets, posters, advertising, web visuals, and other publications in keeping with client budget and needs
  • Utilize photographs, illustrations, multiple overlay, various types, and 4-color designs, to create page layouts, logos, illustrations, and match prints for commercial offset printing
  • Prepare rough sketches, final sketches, charts, and 3-D graphics, web graphics, and other original art work
  • Complete illustrations in pen, ink, or utilizing applications such as Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop (may specialize in a particular content area/ format)
  • Layout multiple pages utilizing computer applications (e.g., InDesign, DreamWeaver, Flash)
  • Assist in printer operation for finished jobs
  • Work with faculty and students on graphic design and illustration questions
  • Research and review marketing trends
  • Work with clients, writers, editors, commercial printers, and production staff on projects
  • Recommend solutions to design problems and present recommendations to clients
  • Assist in the training of other student employees
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Previous graphics and illustration experience in a similar position
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimum supervision
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in project-driven, team environment
  • Good working knowledge of page layout and related computer-based design applications (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Flash)
