STUDENT AUDIO/VISUAL TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

Assists faculty and staff with audio-visual equipment. May be required to:

  • Set up, operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and report issues regarding media equipment including microphones, VCR’s, DVD’s, monitors, flat screens, and LCD/DLP projectors
  • Assist faculty in selecting audio/visual equipment resources
  • Resolve technical problems and/or assist staff in installation, maintenance, and repair of High-Tech Classrooms and AV equipment
  • Monitor equipment and/or connections to remote sites while classes are in progress
  • Design, write, and produce instructional materials and user documentation utilizing graphics, photography, lettering, layout, and design techniques
  • Answer phones for help desk support and generate work order requests
  • Take inventory and generate reports to maintain inventory
  • Deliver media equipment to various campus locations
  • Catalogue and file media materials
  • Update records using a computer and related software
  • Assist in training of other student employees
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience with AV system and equipment operation in a similar position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Sound judgment to prioritize issues
  • Ability to operate a computer and phone
  • Computer and AV technology literacy
  • Customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Skill in online learning applications preferred (e.g., WebCT Vista)
