STUDENT THEATER SPECIALIST

Assists faculty and staff with the operation of a theatre. May be required to:

  • Coordinate activities involved with productions
  • Specialize in one or more areas of production (directing, lighting, costumes, etc.)
  • Assist with directing during productions
  • Assist in quick-change costumes or sets
  • Set up, operate, maintain, and repair lighting equipment, devices, and panel board
  • Construct costumes
  • Procure and construct theatrical properties
  • Construct and paint scenery
  • Create and distribute posters and promotional materials
  • Maintain make-up and dressing rooms
  • Usher patrons to appropriate seats
  • Complete ticket transactions and manage cash operations
  • Assist Director and House Manager
  • Perform backstage duties for lighting and staging during productions
  • Assist in the training and scheduling of other student employees
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Previous theatre experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated skill in one or more areas of production (directing, lighting, costumes, etc.)
  • Ability to work quickly to meet stringent deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • May need to perform physical duties such as lifting, simple carpentry, etc.
  • May need to work nights and/or weekends
