STUDENT ANIMAL CARE SPECIALIST

Provides skilled animal care. May be required to:

• Clean cages, stalls, and other housing
• Operate and clean equipment (e.g., incubators)
• Prepare rations, provide feed, and give water to animals per established guidelines
• Wean animals
• Gather, grade, and pack eggs
• Handle and exercise animals
• Identify sex of animals
• Breed animals per established guidelines
• Complete paperwork and maintain records
• Assist in the training of other student employees
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed

Requirements:

• Previous animal care experience in a similar position
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated knowledge of animal care and procedures
• May need to perform physical duties such as heavy lifting
