STUDENT ANIMAL CARE ASSISTANT

Provides semi-skilled animal care. May be required to:

• Clean cages, stalls, and other housing
• Operate and clean equipment (e.g., incubators)
• Prepare rations, provide feed, and give water to animals per established guidelines
• Assist with the weaning of animals
• Gather, grade, and pack eggs
• Handle and exercise animals
• Identify sex of animals
• Assist with animal breeding per established guidelines
• Complete paperwork and maintain records
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of animal care and simple procedures
• May need to perform physical duties such as heavy lifting
