STUDENT IT SYSTEMS/NETWORK SPECIALIST

Assists faculty and staff with computer-related duties. May be required to:

  • Install, test, and maintain hardware and software
  • Test hardware and software on various PC platforms
  • Record, track, and report computer and system problems
  • Diagnose computer hardware and software problems
  • Perform repairs within established guidelines
  • Develop scripts to automate tasks
  • Develop training and documentation to assist staff and faculty in technology use
  • Secure work environment, systems, and equipment
  • Perform data entry, record keeping and other administrative tasks
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Assist in training of other student employees
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in information technology
  • Knowledge of various applications (e.g., imaging, security systems)
  • Knowledge of program languages (e.g., SQL, shell scripting) and their application
  • Familiarity with email clients and mail protocols (e.g., Outlook, Exchange)
  • Skill in working within mainframe, Web, and Windows environments
  • Ability to operate a computer and advanced computer literacy
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in project-driven, team environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • May need to lift approximately 25 lbs.
