STUDENT LABORATORY & FIELD ANALYSIS SPECIALIST

Assists faculty in research efforts within a laboratory or other research-specific environment. Student may be required to:

  • Utilize advanced lab and field analytical techniques and equipment
  • Take samples
  • Prepare and maintain research materials and environment
  • Operate and maintain standard lab equipment
  • Assist in the design and layout of new lab equipment
  • Test equipment and resolve basic problems within guidelines
  • Test and/or implement computer program modules
  • Make identifications and take measurements
  • Code/plot and analyze data
  • Keep detailed records
  • File and classify data
  • Organize, analyze, and communicate data
  • Interpret statistical output
  • Write reports on experimental procedures and findings
  • Assist in the preparation of copy for publication
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Assist in the training of other student employees
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate a computer and other research equipment
  • May require knowledge of specific applications related to data acquisition and statistical analysis
  • May require computer programming ability
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
