STUDENT DINING SERVICE SPECIALIST

Assists staff in an on-campus eating facility. May be required to:

  • Prepare and serve food and/or beverages
  • Record and place customers’ orders
  • Write guest checks
  • Perform cashiering duties, including receiving and recording cash receipts
  • Assist with simple purchasing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and/or payroll tasks (e.g., organizing student timesheets, tracking receipts, etc.)
  • Secure supplies and stock service station
  • Order supplies and control inventory
  • Take inventory
  • Check student ID’s
  • Monitor customers entering and leaving the establishment
  • Wash dishes, pots, and pans by hand or with dishwashing equipment
  • Set up and clean up service stations
  • Wash floors and operate floor scrubber & buffer
  • Maintain equipment
  • Assist in training other student employees
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of safe food handling procedures
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Ability to operate a computer, cash register, calculator, or other adding machine
  • Computer literacy
  • Adherence to uniform or dress code
  • If serving alcoholic beverages: T.I.P.P.S. certification
  • Ability to work in fast-paced team environment
  • Customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • May need to perform physical duties such as heavy lifting or standing for long periods of time
